Introducing the T880S Performance Hood: Enhanced Power and Capability

In April 2025, Kenworth proudly launches the T880S Performance Hood, a newly engineered hood and cooling system specifically designed for high Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) applications. This innovation allows for the accommodation of powerful engines, supporting up to 605 horsepower and 2,050 lb-ft of torque.

Distinctive Styling and Robust Design

The T880S Performance Hood features a bold, signature Kenworth design, incorporating a stainless-steel grille surround and fender closeouts. The durable aluminum mesh grille is offered in both polished and anodized black finishes. Signature intake spears are available in chrome or black, enhancing the truck's rugged aesthetic while providing functional performance.

Constructed from Metton® and utilizing a 5-piece design, similar to other T880 hoods, the Performance Hood ensures ease of repair. This hood is engineered to withstand the most demanding job site conditions, delivering the vocational toughness and versatility synonymous with Kenworth, all while maintaining superior visibility through its sloped hood design.

Completing the T880 Model Lineup

This addition completes the T880 model lineup, now offering four application-specific hood configurations. This expansion positions the T880 as the ideal truck for a wide range of specialized applications, encompassing the T880, T880 MX-Optimized Hood, T880S MX-Optimized Hood, and the newly introduced T880S Performance Hood.

Optimized Dimensions and Weight Distribution

The T880S Performance Hood features a 121.7-inch BBC (Bumper to Back of Cab) and a 31.5-inch bumper setting with a standard bumper. This design optimizes weight distribution and ensures compliance with bridge laws. Compared to the T880 with a set-back front axle, the new hood facilitates a 16-inch increase in axle spread/outer bridge, while maintaining a comparable overall length.
