Kenworth Unveils New PACCAR TX-12 PRO Transmission at Work Truck Week 2024

Indianapolis, IN – March X, 2024 – Kenworth Truck Company made a significant powertrain announcement at Work Truck Week 2024, introducing the all-new PACCAR TX-12 PRO automated transmission. Designed for peak performance in vocational applications, the TX-12 PRO expands on the capabilities of the existing TX-12 transmission.

Optimized for Class 6-8 and Light Vocational Use

The TX-12 PRO targets Class 6-7 trucks and light Class 8 vocational applications. It seamlessly integrates with select Kenworth Class 8 models, including the T680 and T880 equipped with MX-11 or PX-9 engines. Availability will extend later this year to encompass Kenworth Class 6-8 models like the T280, T380, and T480, again paired with the PX-9 engine.

Engineered for Efficiency and Durability

The TX-12 PRO is meticulously engineered to work flawlessly with all MX-11 and PX-9 engine ratings, delivering up to 445 horsepower, 1,700 lb.-ft. of torque, and a gross combination vehicle weight of 70,000 pounds.

Enhanced Features for Driver Convenience and Performance

The TX-12 PRO boasts several features designed to enhance driver experience and performance:

• Dual PTO Openings: The transmission features two PTO openings – a bottom-mounted eight-bolt and a rear-mounted four-bolt configuration – offering a combined PTO capacity of 95 horsepower.
• Internal Oil Temperature Sensor: An internal oil temperature sensor continuously monitors transmission temperature, displaying readings on the in-cab 15-inch digital display and providing driver alerts in case of excessive heat.
• Standard Column-Mounted Shifter: For driver comfort and ease of use, the TX-12 PRO comes standard with Kenworth's column-mounted right-hand shifter.
• Extended Service Intervals: Reduced maintenance costs are achieved with extended oil change intervals of 250,000 miles and a maintenance-free clutch design.
