MY25 Engine Options and Updated Regulatory Compliance
March 13, 2025 - 8:32:13 am

As of February 28, 2025, fleets operating in California gain flexibility regarding idle labeling. Previously, CARB Clean Idle Labels were mandatory. Now, fleets that do not idle their vehicles for more than 5 minutes have the option to use the EPA Clean Idle Label instead. It's crucial to note that any changes to CARB/EPA warranty and idle labeling must be finalized before the chassis firm sequence.

CARB Waiver Withdrawal and Impact

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has withdrawn its request for an Alternative Compliance Fleet (ACF) waiver from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). This means that the ACF requirements for fleet purchases or vehicles entering California in 2025 are no longer in effect.

Updated Labeling Flexibility

This development brings renewed flexibility. Fleets purchasing vehicles that will enter California but will not idle for more than 5 minutes within the state can now opt for the EPA Clean Idle Label. This update is reflected in the revised sections below. However, it's important to remember that Low NOx Omnibus and ACT compliance remain mandatory and will continue to be enforced where applicable.
